Surfside Estates on Potrero Beach is an 842 lot (and expanding)  beachfront subdivision of titled properties.  Located in the popular Flamingo/Potrero beach area of Guanacaste Province, this mainly North American development is unique in Costa Rica.  Surfside is within minutes of "Playas" Sugar Beach, Prieta Beach, Penca Beach, Flamingo Beach, Conchal Beach and a 20 minute drive from Playa Grande and Playa Tamarindo.  The subdivision was originally plotted in the early 1970s.  Surfside is a prime residential area between Flamingo and the upscale Pacific Heights region, and is experiencing a boom in new residential construction.  Within minutes of the new Flamingo marina concession project, it has become the regions desired living area.  While still capturing the Costa Rican flavor, one feels very comfortable with just the English language.  Surfside Estates has it's own water board in addition to security patrol and other services. Update: Effective January 21, 2006, the Surfside Water Board has taken over responsibility for drainage and culverts, interior road maintenance and garbage collection, in addition to requiring all new water connections to include a sewer line.  The board is investigating land acquisition respecting the placement of a sewage treatment plant.  The water board has taken over these responsibilities from a previous Residents Association, and we should now see some effective progress.  A new local police force is now being formed, housed from Surfside Properties commercial building. Fees are reasonable, and municipal property tax is low.  All lots are serviced, including telephone, cable, electric and water. High speed internet ADSL lines are now available, and high speed cable access is due January/06 (delayed until March 06).  Surfside is within easy road access to the Liberia International airport (45 min), Tamarindo (20 min), Playa Grande (20 min) and Playa del Coco (35 min).  The golf courses of Melia Conchal (10 min), Pinilla (45 min) and Papagayo (50 min) are first class.  Local area sportfishing is world class for Marlin and Sailfish, in addition to fabulous local dive spots.  Local homeowners are hopeful that the announced main road paving will actually get underway at some stage during the 2005 year.  Betting is on 2006. 

 Surfside Properties are now developing an additional 48 larger, gated, guarded and secure lots known as "Surfside North".  This new section of Surfside will provide lot sizes in the 625 sq. meter range to allow for the construction of larger quality homes on single lots.  The single gated and guarded access to Surfside North will provide a more secure environment.  Lots are expected to be available late January/06, with prices starting at $65,000.  Contact us for more information.
